Four transformative tools to cultivate mental and physical strength right now

Over the last few months we’ve looked at some of the initial themes of transformation, starting with awareness and moving into commitment. Both of these themes are hugely important in initiating your own personal transformation. As the obstacles challenging you to give up on your journey start stacking up, this next theme really becomes important.

Strength is a skill best built on a foundation of awareness and commitment. Once you have the awareness to recognize where you want to expand and have embraced the commitment to grow, the next step is to exercise the necessary strength to get there.

Strength isn’t something that magically appears, it is something that is earned. When you want stronger muscles you commit to lifting weights regularly, when you want to strengthen your math skills you practice your times tables, and when you want to change something in your life, you need to work at it daily.

As a skill, strength can and should be cultivated through not only physical practices, but also mental, emotional, and even spiritual practices. As Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius said;

“You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”

It is not an easy skill to master, nor is it one with a definitive end point, but working towards living in a place of strength is an incredibly important stage in reaching your goals and achieving personal growth.

With all that said, where do you start? We have identified four tools to challenge you to cultivate strength within yourself, and aid in building an unshakable foundation for your overall transformation.

1. Harnessing inner strength through personal mission statements
Who are you? You’ve lived your whole life with specific ideas about who you are and what you stand for. Some of those ideas are great and empowering, but many of them may be cruel, limiting, or straight up not true. When you make the decision to change something in your life, that change needs to start from within. By taking a critical look at your old limiting beliefs about yourself, and consciously creating a new personal mission statement, you can radically shift who you are from the inside out.

2. Developing physical strength through core work
Physical strength plays a major role in overall strength. When we feel strong physically, it can impact how we feel mentally. Whether you make physical activity a daily practice or not, you can’t deny the importance of building strength within your body. One of the most vital areas in your body to strengthen is your core. The best part is, with consistent practice, you can reap the benefits in as little as five to ten minutes a day.

3. Mental strength through cold therapy
In order to grow, you need to step out of your comfort zone. The idea of cold therapy has been gaining popularity, but is still a practice most people steer clear of. Submitting yourself to an ice cold shower first thing in the morning definitely doesn’t sound like a joyous activity, but the benefits greatly outweigh the discomfort. Not only does cold therapy improve inflammation, but starting your day off with a challenge gets you used to pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and mentally sets you up for success for the rest of your day.

4. Building psychological strength through release meditation
One of the most trying aspects of cultivating strength is working through the psychological obstacles that come up. Jealousy, judgement, comparison, and even perceived failures seem to pop up right when you’re most vulnerable. Growth and transformation take time, and with time comes obstacles, so focusing on releasing fears, tension, and blockages on a daily basis is huge. Release meditation is a profound tool in working through psychological traps. By spending ten minutes at the end of the day to quiet your mind and consciously release negative thought patterns, you can actively strengthen your psyche.

Though it isn’t always easy, cultivating strength in every aspect of yourself is a massive step forward in your total transformation. Once you’ve built a solid foundation, you can use your new found strength as a pillar to guide you through your transformation journey.

Transformation is journey oriented, where the process is arguably more impactful than any end result. Philosophically speaking, you could say the journey is the desired result… We can’t wait to get started on this journey, and hope you join us!
